Is Money 💵 Even Real?
Crazy thought, I know.
I’m reading an interesting book called Sapiens, a Brief History of Humankind.
While it’s not a money book (like our list of financial books here), it has some really interesting concepts about money…. like how we completely made it up along with a lot of other items in our culture.
It reminded me that the only way money works is if we all buy into the idea.
Thinking in this way also helps me think of money as a bit more of a game rather than something like oxygen that you just must have.
(I know that we actually need ‘money’ — my idea is metaphorical — so that I don’t get caught up in money — ok, carrying on…)
Here’s an interesting excerpt about money:
The author says…
In fact, even today coins and banknotes are a rare form of money. The sum total of money in the world is about $60 trillion, yet the sum total of coins and banknotes is less than $6 trillion. More than 90% of all money - more than $50 trillion appearing in our accounts - exists only on computer servers. Accordingly, most business transactions are executed by moving electronic data from one computer file to another, without any exchange of physical cash. Only a criminal buys a house, for example, by handing over a suitcase full of banknotes. As long as people are willing to trade goods and services in exchange for electronic data, it’s even better than shiny coins and crisp banknotes - ligher, less bulky, and easier to keep track of.
So first, aim to have enough money to pay your basic bills — shelter & food.
Then, maybe you can work on playing the money game with me (I’m doing this to create a healthier mindset around money — making it, losing it, giving it, saving it, spending it).
What I’m Working On…
A Blog Directory Plugin
We had an idea to showcase a guide or directory on our website The Mobile Rundown.
I tried a few different plugins, but ultimately I decided to hire developers and build my own custom template.
Then, we decided to make it a plugin so that I could use it for multiple websites.
Which means I’d have the ability to turn it into a commercial product.
My first plugin for sale?? Maybe!
If you’ve developed a plugin before, hit me up and let me know what roadblocks to look out for.
Blog Income Report 💸
I just published July’s income report on YouTube.
We had some bad stuff happen, but some great stuff happened as well.
I’ll show you what I learned this past month here.
New Courses for DTBU (Destroy the Box University) 🎓
We’re ramping up our education production for DTBU!
My team has edited the videos for our flipping course.
We’re getting closer to getting that course live.
And you know I know how to flip stuff!
(in my last email, I showed yall that bike I took from trash to cash!!)
Tweet Street from X (formerly Twitter)
Are you guys watching this drama unfold?
We may actually get to watch Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg battle it out in a cage match.
Is this really gonna happen?
Nuts…
The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC).
Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all.
I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location.

Personal Finance 💸
Weird, but I keep thinking about this quote.
It’s funny how a simple line can actually change your ideas on things (like money).
“Money is like gasoline on a road trip. You don’t want to run out of gas on the trip, but you’re not doing a tour of gas stations either.”
And if you don’t think much about money, feel free to start with my rules.
